MatWorks Entrance Systems

Commercial Entrance Systems

Protection starts at the door.

A commercial entrance system coordinates grid systems, entrance tiles and/or commercial entrance matting to scrape, capture and contain tracked-in dirt and moisture closer to the door. MatWorks helps shape the system around traffic, weather exposure, available coverage, maintenance, appearance and installation needs.

Entrance Impact Tool

Start with what your entrance needs to handle.

Choose a common condition to see what it may mean, what MatWorks would evaluate and which system path may be worth exploring. This planning tool does not create a technical specification.

Choose an entrance condition Each path is conditional on the site, use and maintenance plan.
01 Dirt + moisture

Manage tracked-in dirt and moisture closer to the door.

What it means Rain, mud, sand, salt and other tracked-in material can move beyond the entry and increase cleaning demands on interior floors.
What MatWorks evaluates Exterior exposure, contaminant type, vestibule and walk-off space, existing floor conditions and cleaning practices.
Possible system approach A staged combination of grid systems, entrance tiles and/or entrance matting may be worth evaluating.
Why it may fit Different surfaces can perform distinct scraping, capture and wiping jobs across the entrance path.

Illustrative commercial entrance condition with tracked-in dirt and moisture
Tracked-in material can continue beyond the entrance when the coverage and maintenance plan do not match site conditions.
01 / Illustrative condition See what the entrance needs to manage.

Illustrative views support planning only. Final product, configuration and installation decisions require site-specific review.

What shapes the decision: MatWorks evaluates exposure, traffic and rolling loads, available coverage, floor and threshold conditions, maintenance, appearance and program scale. A grid system, entrance tile, matting or a planned combination may be considered after site review.

Three primary entrance paths

Compare grid systems, entrance tiles and commercial entrance matting.

An entrance may use one path or a planned combination. The descriptions below explain when each option is often worth evaluating and what must still be confirmed.

Grid systems

A structured surface that can scrape and capture debris at the entry. Often worth evaluating for heavy traffic, carts or wheels, recessed areas or floor-mounted applications.

Entrance tiles

Modular walk-off coverage for entrances that need design flexibility, planned maintenance or the ability to address individual areas. Often worth evaluating when broad coverage or targeted replacement matters.

Entrance matting

Surface-applied commercial entrance matting can add flexible scraping and wiping coverage to an existing entry. Often worth evaluating for retrofit-friendly applications and facility-specific sizes.

What determines the fit?

The site determines the system. MatWorks considers the entrance as a working environment before narrowing the path; the same product or combination is not right for every doorway.

Plan the entrance to support the next layer of the floor environment.

The entrance is the first layer of the MatWorks Commercial Floor Performance System. It is planned to manage tracked-in material before that material reaches the interior Core Flooring environment.

Featured entrance solution

REPP-Tile™ brings modular performance and design together.

REPP-Tile is a 19.5-inch-square, 3/8-inch entryway carpet tile made with solution-dyed PET. It can be installed with TacFast or glue-down methods, subject to site requirements. Custom logos and graphics are also available for appropriate projects.

  • Modular coveragePlan a broader walk-off area and address individual tiles when maintenance or replacement requires it.
  • Installation choicesEvaluate TacFast and glue-down attachment methods alongside the substrate, traffic and operating plan.
  • Design capabilityUse pattern, color and approved custom logos or graphics to make the entrance feel intentional. For broader identity applications, explore Branded Floors.
Site planning + execution

Plan the entrance and the work together.

Product selection is only part of a successful entrance project. MatWorks can connect planning, field information, product selection, installation coordination and final review for an individual facility or a multi-location program.

  1. Share the operating conditionsPhotos, dimensions, traffic, carts or wheels, exposure, current flooring, maintenance practices and the number of locations all help start the conversation.
  2. Evaluate the appropriate pathMatWorks considers whether a grid system, entrance tile, matting or a planned combination may fit—and what technical details still need confirmation.
  3. Coordinate the workProduct, transitions, schedule, installation requirements and final review are aligned to the approved project scope.
